My Five Intentions For an Unforgettable 2018

My Five Intentions For an Unforgettable 2018

As my spiritual guide Chani Nicholas proclaimed,

“This is a time of self-definition like no other. Over the next three years, as Saturn travels through your sign, the Taskmaster aims to bring you back to yourself. Redefining your understanding of who you are and what you are capable of. Awakening you to your responsibility to your own becoming. Reminding you of who you want to grow yourself into. And the work that it requires.

This work is on you. No one else can do it for you. No one else can define it for you. No one can deter you from it, unless you let them. So don’t give anyone the opportunity to. Stay in your lane and don’t let anyone cut in on your journey. These next three years will require that you honor your ability to shut out distractions so that you can put the most important things first.”

This year, I know I need to be dedicated and as goal-oriented as possible. I learned a lot in 2017 and the largest lesson was that this is the time that I be selfish with my intentions. Last year,  I was hoping  HE and I have a happy year together. Fuck that. My intention for this year is for me to find a life that’s completely my own and to live every day with the goal of discovering more about myself and making my dreams come true.

I have five specific intentions for this year that I’m excited to share with you all:

SELF CARE OVER EVERYTHING

In 2017, I did not take care of myself at all like I should have. I stopped working out completely. My diet looked more like a dinosaur roaming for leaves in “The Land before Time” than anything resembling a human diet. I was in an emotionally toxic relationship. I allowed my self-worth to become too dependant on how many friends I (didn’t) have and the opinions of those who don’t matter. AINT NONE OF THAT SHIT COMIN’ WITH ME IN 2018.

This year I’m going to be caring for ME and taking care of ME. I’m going to take care of my body with the intention of three physical workouts a week and a better diet (bye bye late night Blue Ribbon orders - or at least no more ordering 2x in a night #ashamed). I’m ending 2017 clearing out all the toxic relationships that I don’t need to carry with me. I'm prioritizing my own mental and physical wellbeing AT ALL TIMES. The only thing I’m bringing with me into 2017 is the love I have for myself and a serious dedication to treating my body like the TWENTY EIGHT QUEEN I’m going to be.

GO AHEAD AND CALL ME SELFISH

We’re told from a young age that we’ve got to look out for “NUMBER ONE” at all times, but then socialized into thinking that looking out for what’s best for yourself is a negative trait and you’re a selfish person. Well, I’m fighting that stigma and I’m going into 2018 being HELLA SELFISH. I don’t think there’s ever been a time where I actually put myself above everything else. So now is my time to be selfish. With my time. With my money. With my energy. With my love. With my presence. I’m a giving, generous person who has been hurt so many times by those more selfish than me and while I’m not advocating for a FUCK YA’LL attitude, I’m saying I’m going to be selfish with what’s mine. I’m not carrying the weight of others on my back this year. I’m not teaching the emotional intelligence others should have. I’m not expecting assistance from those there to give it. It’s me time.  I’ll give where I’m passionate. I’ll expend when it brings me happiness. This year is about doing things for me.

FAVORITE POSITION? CEO

The best piece of advice that I received as 2017 comes to a close is “Be your own CEO” (Thanks Danielle!) - This means that it’s time to take control of your own fate and advocate for yourself. Don’t wait for someone to tell you GO. I’m excited to see where this one takes me. This year, I’m being as ambitious as I can and setting high goals for my personal and professional life. I want to make with Cheyenne not only an online community where I share my world, but I dream of extending the community into off-line workshops and meet-ups. I aspire to move up the ladder in the marketing world and work for a company that values my creativity and ideas. I want to mentor young female leaders and help them see that there is a place in this world for their confidence and unapologetic ambition. THERE’S SO MUCH TO DO!!!!...and no one is going to do it for me, so it’s time for me to be the CEO, CMO, CFO, and HR for my own damn life. HUZZAH!

DISCIPLINE IS MY NEW MIDDLE NAME

In the past, I’ve been in that 92% of people who don’t stick with their new year’s resolutions (hence the rebrand to *intentions*). This year, it’s my intention to be disciplined. I have a lot of things I want to accomplish with the blog and in my professional life so those early mornings and late nights will take discipline. I’m going to need to stick to a schedule and focus on the LONG TERM results, not just how good it would be to sleep for 20 more minutes. So this means no more days off without intention and no cutting corners for my ease. This year is going to be BIG and I’m excited to find discipline in this process and see how strong my internal fortitude can be.

BE HAPPY

What is any of the above without the goal of being happy? 2017 had its highs and lows as any year will and 2018 will be no different. What I expect out of 2018 is trusting that my intentions to follow my heart, passions, desires, and gut will bring happiness. I want to continue not taking things too seriously and laughing at myself. Life is hilariously delirious. Things work and then they don’t. We fall, but we get up. There’s trials and tribulations every day and they only seem to fluctuate in difficulty so if I had one piece of advice for everyone buckling up for 2018 it’s to find the people and things that make you your happiest self and keep them close.

That’s it folks! These are my 2018 intentions - five easy to remember and easy to achieve markers for my success. I’m excited to move forward with this mission and can’t wait to share the journey with all of you!
